About / BTCIndicator

A calmer way to navigate Bitcoin cycles.

Built to turn one investor’s repeatable process into a clear, disciplined signal for anyone who shares a long-term interest in Bitcoin.

Back to today’s signal

I built BTCIndicator for myself as a multi-cycle Bitcoin investor and trader. Over time, I wanted to make that process useful to my friends, family, and anyone else who shares a thoughtful interest in Bitcoin—giving them more clarity and peace of mind without asking them to live inside the market every day.

Historically, Bitcoin has rewarded patient investors who could hold through long periods of volatility. This method aims to participate in Bitcoin’s strongest upside while reducing exposure when downside risk appears elevated. It is not designed to catch every dollar of a move. It is designed to take the emotion out of holding a volatile asset by using a disciplined approach.

01

Momentum first

Bitcoin often develops powerful momentum and overshoots in both directions. Because price is ultimately what determines returns, it remains the primary input for entry and exit signals. A multi-timeframe approach is taken for the signal.

02

Cross-market context

Dollar strength, leverage in the system, and the business cycle—approximated by the copper-to-gold ratio—add useful context for interpreting Bitcoin’s price movement.

03

Neutral is a position

Upward momentum and early bull-cycle conditions have been more predictable than exits. Near a top, a selloff may be a temporary shakeout or the end of the cycle. The model moves neutral when the evidence weakens rather than pretending to know the top in advance.

The practical goal

The system has helped me stay long Bitcoin for much of its strongest upside while freeing capital for faster-moving opportunities over the medium term. For most people, however, buying Bitcoin throughout bear markets with a consistent dollar-cost averaging strategy is probably the more appropriate approach.
